Hello freeradius-users,

I've spent my free time the last few weeks searching for information on
setting up and configuring radius. I have a friend who owns a small ISP
currently with an antique Red Hat 7.0 machine running a radius server
(version unknown) doing triple duty as his mail and DNS server (was
doing web hosting too, but I moved that). We want very much to replace
this server before the hardware fails, and spread the services out to
several different machines. (We're thinking ahead- the existing server
is still functional, thank $DIETY.) His current system is using an
/etc/raddb/users file, and unless the format has changed significantly,
or there are other good reasons to change I'd like to keep it that way.
(I know too little about databases or LDAP)

Very little information seems to be available other than the FAQ at
freeradius.org, and even that leaves me wanting. I have downloaded the
entire mailing list archive for this list, and plan to do a bit of
searching of it as needed. Already I have found the
freeradius-0.8-1.src.rpm using the archive and I'm hoping it will
'rpmbuild --rebuild' cleanly. I plan on using Red Hat Linux Advanced
Server 2.1 as the distribution (I work for Red Hat, so we can avoid the
obligatory distro-wars) I gather I must run freeradius on the radius
server, and some sort of client on the email server to authenticate the
users there for getting their email. I'd appreciate a quick pointer to
what client software is needed, but if not I'm sure I can sift it out of
the archive.

Thanks in advance,
