Hiya
Is it possible to set FreeRADIUS to share an SQL connection rather than using
one for each request?

My problem is that our radius servers periodically come under VERY heavy
load, ie 6000+ accounts all trying to authenticate at once. This obvioulsy means all
256 RADIUS sessions fill up and stay full until all users are authenticated. This
would require 256 socket connections to MySQL as I read it, which I am not happy with
and (at the moment neither is MySQL, but a recompile could probably fix that).

What I would have thought would be a nicer solution would be to have only a
few connections open to MySQL and the daemon shares these connections. When all
connections are in use the daemon queues additional requests until a socket becomes
free. Thus allowing 256 simultanious RADIUS sessions from a NAS without rejecting 90%
of them (which is not really acceptible in our situation).

Is any of what I have mentioned possible with freeRADIUS?

thanks
