Hi, 
        I use SQL but use the failover stuff too, so this may apply.  What I 
discovered was that if the secondary sql server was offline when the radiusd was 
started that the service would not see it coming up, it would seem to assume it was 
down and never check.

Perhaps the service has been restarted for you and the 2nd LDAP server was offline/not 
responding at that time?
