No. Can you try to run it in gdb - for example with
LD_LIBRARY_PATH=libfreerdp/.libs/:libfreerdpkbd/.libs/:libfreerdpchanman/.libs/:asn1/.libs/:libfreerdputils/.libs/
gdb X11/.libs/xfreerdp
r 192.168.2.172
where
and send me the output
A wild guess could be to also try xfreerdp --sec rdp 192.168.2.172
