Hi all,

I have just pushed a couple of improvements to the graphical rendering code.
I have working bitmap caching now (can be disabled with --no-bmp-cache, not
the same as --no-osb, the offscreen bitmap cache is different). I have also
"turned the switch on" for X11-specific GDI rendering in xfreerdp by
default. If you want to use software rendering in xfreerdp, you now need to
explicitly pass --gdi sw. --gdi hw turned on by default along with bitmap
caching should give graphical rendering performance a welcomed boost.

There are still a few minor things to fix with regards to graphical
rendering, such as glyph drawing which is currently disabled because it's
not stable enough. I'm getting close to completion for 1.0.

I've been asked a couple of times for an estimate release date for 1.0. I
know a lot of people are waiting for a release, including myself. However,
there are still a couple of important things left to be done in the list of
issues on github:

the following is a list of virtual channel plugins that haven't been ported
yet:

smartcard redirection
serial port redirection
parallel port redirection
plug and play device redirection

If anybody can help with those, it would be truly appreciated. I cannot go
through that list alone in the time frame people would like get 1.0 out.

Then there are a smaller issues that need to be fixed as well:

exit codes
audin not working
ms word not saving to redirected drive
freerdp.pc missing
etc...

The list might grow, just as the list got under 10 open issues it went back
up to almost 20 :P

Besides the actual program having all the required features for a decent
release, we need to start thinking of packaging. The FreeRDP 0.x branch had
the extra stuff for generating packages for a couple of distributions. If
you're a package maintainer, we'd like your help.

One question a bit related to packaging: since we have a logo, I would like
to get it to work with FreeRDP. What is the preferred way for setting an
icon for an X11 program? I know you can configure that in the menu entry,
but I would like to have the FreeRDP icon even when I'm running it from
command line, without using the .desktop file. Any ideas on how to do that
properly?

Best regards,
- Marc-Andre
