Hi,

I've been talking for some time about a possible beta release. We're pretty
much done with feature completeness, even though many of those features
still have important bugs. I think we should still go forward with a beta
and work on fixing those bugs before the stable release.

At UDS I could meet Rex Tsai from Canonical (known as chihchun on IRC)
who's maintaining a PPA for FreeRDP. I asked him if he would be ok with
becoming in charge of handling the releases for FreeRDP, a task previously
handled by Vic. It's not necessarily the most time consuming task but it
does take time, so it's great to have someone assigned to work on it.

Here would be the current plan:

beta1 - two weeks
beta2 - two weeks
...
re-evaluation of current state
...
stable release

The last stable release was done when we were still using mostly
sourceforge.net. We are now on github, and we can put the release sources
in the downloads section of the FreeRDP project on github instead.

I have just migrated the code for freerdp plugin extensions which hadn't
been done yet, so we're pretty much feature complete yet, excluding the
bugs listed on github. We should now freeze functionality and fix bugs
until we have something stable enough for a FreeRDP 1.0 stable release.

I would like to get the FreeRDP 1.0 Beta1 out now, so that people start
distributing it, and users eventually coming back with even more bug
reports. Priority should go to fixing bugs in functionality that was there
before, where new functionality falls into second place.

Rex, when you read this, you have the green light to proceed :)

Best regards,
- Marc-Andre
