When you're prompted on the terminal it's most probably because the
server wants to do some NLA and in this case you won't have the login
screen (because the credentials are used to negotiate the transport
security).

On the username part some changes have been done since the 1.1 version,
so giving us a little more context about your xfreerdp version would help...
