I always try with logging off and on, not reconnecting. If it were 
server side problem wouldn’t it cause the same problem on other dists?
Same setup works on Lubuntu, using freerdp 1.1, same usb, same mic etc.

Did you reconnect to an existing session?

I´ve seen problems in that case, try logout to quit the session.

(as reference, works on my debian buster machine here with a USB headset
just using /microphone)
