There is also a tar.gz:
https://pub.freerdp.com/releases/freerdp-2.1.2.tar.gz
With 2.1.2 we started to additionally upload .zip archives and have the release
archives also available on GitHub
(https://github.com/FreeRDP/FreeRDP/releases).
The main release archive is still the tar.gz on pub.freerdp.com that
won't change.
