Hello guys, I tried Freesbie 1.1 lately and have been astounded by the startup speed of OOo on it. I used the LiveCD way of booting, with XFCE on my laptop, where the system installed is a Debian GNU/Linux Sarge, and I have been really impressed by the timing difference between both.
Do any of you have a good idea on the cause? I would like to bring it to Debian if I can. Even using prelink and disabling Java is not enough to make it half as fast. After thinking a bit, I wondered if it could have something to do with it being a LiveCD. Is the filesystem completely in RAM (that would explain why it starts so quickly)? My laptop has 512MB of it.
