This sounds like a problem with the sound server. Do you get any messages
like "Connection to sound server severed" or something about sound events
being incomplete? The last time I witnessed this was on a very old
Sparc32 box a few releases ago, but I didn't have that box for testing
this time (other Sparc systems I used didn't have any problems).
What kind of system are you running on? Does decreasing the scale level
(-> decreasing the system load) improve the situation? I think the problem
is that the pipes between the sound server (which is intended to be
detachable eventually) and the interpreter are filling up too fast. We're
using several separate types of transfer (songs and commands to the
server, sound cues and command acknowledgements back from it), and it
looks as if one of them is panicking.

I'll try to create a debug version of the sound server until friday or
saturday (maybe sooner, but I can't promise anything, unfortunately).

llap,
 Christoph
