I have an SCB-55 (aka SCD-15) that does the same thing. (That was why I was
skeptical.) What you do is send the device CTR(0, 127) and CTR(32, 127) on channel
2-10 (and the others if you want, but MT-32 MIDI messages don't use those
channels). It will use the MT-32 drums, and all of the MT-32 (built-in) patches.
BUT, as you can see this is no more than switching the patch bank on these
channels. It is still a SoundCanvas, so it won't accept any MT-32 SysEx commands.
I really wish someone would make a real-time emulator for the MT-32! It would
solve the entire sound problem of this project! (Of course there is that SB stuff
on QFG2, but I think the MT-32 more than makes up for it.)
