Wasn't this what the whole Zend optimizer was for?  So it would cache  
and pre-compiled scripts?

Similar to how fastcgi does ... Either one is ok.  You're over  
thinking... You're not going to put it all on ONE single machine but a  
web cluster so you can spread it out.
