CDRs can work in a number of ways, but the two most common ways are: CSV and XML.
Personally, I like the XML CDRs because they are not limited to the standard one-record-per-call. In conf/autoload_configs/modules.conf.xml you specify which types of CDRs you want created. If memory serves, I believe the CSV CDRs are enabled by default but you'll have to edit modules.conf.xml to allow the XML CDRs. Make sure that you uncomment this line in modules.conf.xml: <!-- <load module="mod_xml_cdr"/> --> Your CDRs will show up in conf/log/cdr-csv/Main.csv and in conf/log/xml_cdr/*xml. You get one XML file per call, named <UUID>.xml.
