I'm not sure about CentOS and other RPM based systems, but I believe that the 32 bit Debian version would work on a 64 bit Debian system if the 32 bit compatibility libraries were installed; I will have to download and set up a 64 bit CentOS machine as well, since my current system is 32 bit. Thank you for mentioning this.

Actually it is a bit more complicated. A 32 bit version and the 64 bit version for each style of distribution (deb & rpm) though the initial one could be 32 bit.

It seems to me that we need to make two packages for Linux. One that will install on current Debian/Ubuntu, one for current RedHat/Fedora/Centos. It should be possible to deal with shared library dependencies across those platforms.
