Hi Folks,

We have one volunteer so far. We can use more than one so please consider this.

To make a point about the urgency: I need to take a hiatus from the project for at least a month, to work on the campaign against Digital QST's digital rights management. I've sent me resignation to ARRL and am about to write the content for digitalqst.org and to do press calls. It would be nice if I could leave some tasks in good hands.

    Thanks

Hi Folks,

The Codec2 project is applying to be a member of the Software Freedom Conservancy, which will then handle money for us, collect donations for us as a non-profit entity, and give us other administrative and legal services and liability insurance.

This will help us with things like Hamvention, which requires a Million dollar liability insurance for us to operate a booth there, and with flying our people around to speak at conferences, etc. And it will take a load of of some of us who have been paying project expenses out of our own pockets - David, myself, Mel, no doubt others.

My business does legal transactions with SFC, and thus I can not be the person representing the project to SFC. David Rowe should probably be the titular head, but would like to work on software almost exclusively - and that's what we need him to do. And thus we need someone to be the project secretary and the main interface with SFC.

Right now, we need the secretary to fill out our application to SFC. On an ongoing basis, the secretary would coordinate the authorization of project expenditures, and would collect receipt images and authorize reimbursement. And no doubt other things I've not thought of.

We tried to get TAPR to do this, and they're not equipped to do so from either an accounting or a political perspective. Of the other choices, SFC was best.

What we need is a detail-oriented person who will make time for the job when necessary and will stick with it. Please write to David and I if you would like to volunteer.

    Thanks

    Bruce
