The webpage describes using a v34 modem, presumably this will be a 'soft'
modem running on a smart phone, tablet or dedicated board.

Regarding the acoustic coupling; will this be able to be done with the
standard speaker/mic on a smartphone using a separate device (like
Bluetooth headset) for the 'plain text' voice?

There's also no mention of session initialisation or key exchange. I'm
