Subject: Codec2 for uC or DSP
To: Bruce Perens <[email protected]>
I find it particularly difficult to sort out TI's marketing literature when
it comes to available features. I'm not sure why, there is plenty of it -
but it often tells me everything but what I want to know. This sounds a
lot like the newest generation of the OMAP series - 5xxx.
If you don't want the DSP functionality, the processor in the BeagleBone
*looks like* a very good choice.
Do be aware that different implementations of current ARMs with FP are not
at all equal. The NEON FPU has an extensive set of features that may or
may not be implemented in a particular chip, I believe at the discretion of
the manufacturer.
