As to the first part, either way a file has to be changed, be it the cmake
file or version.h so I'm not sure I understand. As to the second, that's
more a philosophical decision so I must coincide.
At a minimum, I would like to request that we maintain the version segments
individually as well since certain things, like cpack, like to parse the
version together, i.e.:
#define FREEDV_VERISON_MAJOR "0"
#define FREEDV_VERSION_MINOR "96"
#define FREEDV_VERSION_PATCH "3"
And not just the whole version string, otherwise I have to do more regex
magic to break it back apart internally in cmake.
