My Ubuntu 14.04 LTS 64 crashed today and after an hour of reading /var/log
crap, I finally said, poop, and decided to re-load from CD.
This would give me a chance to see if I can build freedv from scratch again.
My first problem was wxWidgets. The latest stable is 3.0.1 and I remember
using 3.0.0 before, so I tried the old version.
Alas, that version doesn't even compile anymore, so that's why they
probably went to 3.0.1. The new version does compile, and I installed it.
Finally, all prerequisites installed and ldconfig'd I compiled codec2 and
fdmdv. No problems there.
Alas, a couple of screens are gimped though.
When I select the Audio tab I get this error message, which is from
wxWidgets and not FreeDV, so tough cookies on that.
Gtk-WARNING **: gtk_widget_size_allocate(): attempt to allocate widget with
width -3 and height -3

The Filters tab is too tall, so the buttons are an inch from the bottom.
I think I'm going back to my Java program... :-)
