Cortex M7 would go in SmartMic without modification, it appears,
which means there would be extra power to run the Speex audio
preprocessor, better battery life, etc. (although just maybe the
Speex audio preprocessor could work in the present chip). I also wanted to point out that the low-end SmartFusion 2 part for Whitebox is less than $18 in quantities of 90 at Arrow. This includes a gate-array with 11 parallel MACs and 6K logic elements, and a Cortex M3 with Ethernet and USB OTG (so it can be a USB master) along with a ton of peripherals. At that price we don't have to feel that we are blowing money that we could have spent on a faster CPU. Thanks Bruce |
