Hello lists,

I've been working on a new, more robust FreeDV waveform. Here are some
wave files of the transmit signal:

   i) http://rowetel.com/downloads/codec2/proto900/tx.wav
   ii) http://rowetel.com/downloads/codec2/proto900/tx_clip.wav

(i) has a PAPR of 12dB, (ii) is a "companded" version with a PAPR of
just 6dB.

I have tested these signals over simulated HF channels at SNRs down to
-3dB with good results.

Could you please arrange to have these files transmitted and received
over HF channels? Please record the received signal and email it to me.
I will then process it off line using my prototype demodulator software.

In particular I'd like to see how they perform under adverse conditions,
say when analog SSB is starting to get difficult, or at low tx power, or
long paths with lots of multipath. A comparison recording of analog SSB
at the same average power level and the same channel would be useful.

I would also be interested to see if (ii) can be transmitted at a higher
average power level than (i).

These real world tests will help me develop FreeDV.

Thanks,

David
