Dave (and the group): I have been a silent admirer of Codec2 and FreeDV for some time. Having recently retired after 40+ years designing embedded systems I was very interested in your list of possible projects.
There are several that I would be interested in, the one that stands out is helping to port the 700D to the SM1000. I have an SM1000-D already and have done hobby work with a few SMTF4 parts. I did mostly hardware design (ASICs), but plenty of firmware and software, for calculators, printers, and cameras. I've ported algorithms from Matlab to C and then to Verilog. I also believe strongly in open source and feel that is especially compatible with the ideas of amateur radio. I use Linux as my main computing platform and have for a long time (Unix before that). I've checked out the latest code and started to try and compile it, looks like some changes are needed even for that. If you would rather have help with DSP coding, I'd be interested in that also. I am only a beginner at it but am eager to learn. Of course there are still plenty of other things demanding my time, so it's still a limited resource :-) Don Reid - W7DMR (direct email is don at db-reid dot com) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Check out the vibrant tech community on one of the world's most engaging tech sites, Slashdot.org! http://sdm.link/slashdot _______________________________________________ Freetel-codec2 mailing list Freetel-codec2@lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/freetel-codec2
