Hi Don, I've used the Discovery to date (5 years now) with stock firmware and it's been acceptable for development to date. The semi-hosting system could use some updating and maintenance.
Discoveries (perhaps the latest version) have the advantage of being easy to get world wide. I have no strong feelings about what to use moving forward, but would suggest keeping the unit test code fairly generic. For example it probably doesn't matter what semi hosting system we use, as long as it supports printf/fread/fwrite. Our general policy is to us cmake based build systems rather than focus on any one IDE, and of course we can't use anything closed source.
