Obviously, this isn't going to replace the SM1000 -- it's more for people who
like to dabble. I'm into kits, so I enjoy building more than buying. The
basic functionality is working, and I have a fairly complete prototype up and
running.
As of tonight, it's about 1800 lines of C++ code and 1200 lines of Python
code. Even on the old RasPi version 1, the FreeDV API leaves plenty of
headroom to operate. Those of you working on the Codec2 project have done
great work. The API is fantastic and lightweight.
I may try it on a Pi-Zero to see how it performs there -- I suspect that's an
even better solution for an "appliance" device.
