There's a new beta 3920ec8 (Download from freedv.org) that addresses the
assert issue.

The UK team has also reported a bug that causes freedv-gui to crash if
USB devices are removed at certain times, however I'll log this as an
issue for now:

If anyone would like to look at this issue - pls let me know.  It's
wrangling with PortAudio callls in C, no DSP involved.

Getting good reports from 2020 and 700D on air. Some significant
improvements with FreeDV 1.4
