It's speaker independent with the additional per-speaker data

Compared to much of the niche hardware people use with amateur radio
(amps, antennas, radios, masts, rotators, filters, etc) computing
power is inexpensive, repurposable, and many people already have quite
a bit sitting idle much of the time.  I think there is a future for
high-performance-computing-radio, but obviously super cpu expensive
modes wouldn't replace existing uses (at least not until improvements
got the cpu usage down).
