That is some great stats you have captured there Mooneer.

I guess the tricky part of once per month, is trying to find the lesser number
of collisions with contests, to find the right weekend each month.

I for one, vote YES for the every month Activity Day event. Sounds like a great
idea.

Activity Day - November 5-6, 2022

Hi all,

These stats are preliminary but it looks like there were approximately 350
unique contacts that PSK Reporter was able to pick up over the entire weekend
(split ~50/50 across both days). Most activity was on 20 meters but there was
activity picked up on 15, 17, 40, 80 and surprisingly 4 meters. Overall a
pretty successful weekend for sure, especially considering that there were
likely more that did not have reporting enabled in the FreeDV application.

Anyway, what do you guys think about making it a once a month thing instead of
just once a quarter?

Thanks,

UPDATE:

I just wanted to say that we had a great deal of fun this weekend with the
FreeDV Activity Day.

We had stations from several countries that were making contacts in their
respective areas, and even a couple made it over to the states here as well.

There were more than a dozen NEW stations that were trying FreeDV for the first
time.

I was bouncing between 20m, 40m, and 17m, having all three of those operating
at the same time with multiple instances of FreeDV running was a big advantage,
and that sure helped to make it a great success for me.

I hope we can continue to drive up the participation like that on a weekly
basis.

Thanks to everyone that was active this weekend.

All the best, and looking forward to the next event in the future.

Walter/K5WH

Hi all,

Just a reminder that Activity Day weekend is only a week away! If you haven't
already, download the latest release of FreeDV and make sure everything is
working properly. Please post here if you have any setup issues prior to next
weekend and we'll help you get situated :)

Thanks,

Hi all,

We'll be doing another FreeDV Activity Day on the weekend of November 5-6,
2022! This event will bring together people interested in HF digital voice on
the air for conversation and fun. Contacts using <https://freedv.org/> the
official applicationas well as the SM1000 handheld microphone are welcome.

(Note: this is different than previous Activity Days in that you have the
entire weekend, not just a 24 hour period. This may continue for future
Activity Days based on how the upcoming one goes.)

Event time: 12AM Pacific time (0700Z) on November 5 to 11:59PM (0759Z) on
November 6 (49 hours). Note: Daylight Saving Time ends in the US during
Activity Day weekend.

Suggested frequencies:

80 meters: 3.625, 3.643 or 3.693 MHz

40 meters: 7.177 MHz

20 meters: 14.236 MHz

17 meters: 18.118 MHz

15 meters: 21.313 MHz

12 meters: 24.933 MHz

10 meters: 28.330 or 28.720 MHz

(Note that LSB/DIGL is used below 10MHz as per current convention for voice
modes, USB/DIGU otherwise.)

As this isn't a contest, there's no pressure to make contacts or send logs, but
you can always confirm QSOs via the usual means if you'd like (LoTW, eQSL, QRZ,
etc.) Enabling PSK Reporter in the FreeDV application and joining the
<http://qso.freedv.org/> QSO Finderare recommended, however, so others can see
that you're on the air and hearing them (for instance, here's
<https://pskreporter.info/pskmap?preset&callsign=ZZZZZ&mode=FREEDV&timerange=3600&mapCenter=31.442130629514438,9.52291666666666,1.9517274414542571>
the current map of listeners). :D

Feel free to spread this far and wide among your local ham friends and groups!
:) Let me know if you have any questions about the event and definitely post
here if you have issues getting the application working prior to the event.

Thanks,

-Mooneer K6AQ
