Nick, it the virtual host setup is uses mod_php you **may** be able to get
away with the <file> directive in the .htaccess file of your root directory.
If your on php as a cgi you are out of luck for anything conventional and
easy.

phpbuilder.com has an article on this.

I guessed it... That httpd config issue is a problem since this is for
virtually hosted work.
