Sometimes due to arbitrary client requirements, like "we're a Microsoft
house, damn it!"  Yes...these horrors exist! ;>

Good point.  The different versions will end up diverging as they take
advantage of their environments.  Ultimately, each implementation will be
its own project.  They can share requirements and high-level design.  Will
we run into problems where one team adds lots of new features with the other
teams playing catch-up?  Maybe, but I don't see it happening the other way.

Maybe I should make this a declaration: no implementation of FreeTrade shall
be hindered by the inadequacies of any other!
