I can't understand why it would be hard to export your data...munge it
into FT formats and then re-import it. Some perl scripts should make this
pretty easy.

Why would we know or care?? You are going to have the same problem
(data munging) with whatever product you use.

Sure! Re-write the SQL in FT to match your tables.
