[FreeTrade] How does CVS work?

Hello;
 I have a very customized version of Freetrade 1.0.3, if I update using the
CVS snapshop on the working-dogs site I will loose all my changes, is there
anyway to update and protect my changes.  i would like to use the new
language modules and the utility modules as well..
