The mailing list *IS* archived and searchable, and the links are
right on the Freetrade webpage. OK it's not the easiest way to find
answers, but you could search on "shipping" and get some good
info. Also just browsing the archives, when people use good
subject lines, is very useful to the *Freetrade* beginner. I spent a
couple days searching and browsing the archives and it really
helped me get up to speed on Freetrade. I also found Kent's
(incomplete) tutorial and that was a good start too.
As for the FAQ I only recently found that anyone can ask AND
answer questions. I just assumed you had to have special
privileges to answer questions. Since then I have been keeping an
eye on the unanswered questions, and if I feel I can adequately
answer one, I will.
I think that these two resources need to be more accessible, as it
seems there are people that just don't realize they exist, or just
don't realize they will be helpful. When I first looked at the FAQ
there were so few questions and even fewer answers it seemed like
a waste of time. Now I know, it's not your average, static FAQ, it
can be added to by anyone. But as for making them more
accessible, well, they are already links on the webpage which I
would think would be enough....maybe they need to be mentioned
in the header or footer of the messages to the list?
I don't think there should be two lists created. There are already
*PHP* mailing lists one can go to with php questions. This is a
*Freetrade* mailing list and I think the focus should remain on
Freetrade and perhaps it need to be stated more clearly that PHP,
mySQL, and HTML knowledge are expected to use Freetrade.
