Hi to all.

I've just arrived on the scene and having read the BBS it seems some of
you would like to know how to add/alter/delete fields from your MySql
databases. Being the type who likes to do things the easy way, I located
this little gem of a script I'd like to share with you. It's
appropriately called PhpMyAdmin and it can be downloaded from here:

http://phpwizard.net/projects/phpMyAdmin/index.html

Add your database details to the config file, upload the script to your
server, secure the config file in some way and use the program.

It gives you a graphical, user friendly view of your database structure
and all the tables and fields in it. It also allows you to view the
records and modify or delete them. There is also provision to import
comma delimited data.

There's not a lot of documentation, but with one exception it's very
easy to use. Deleting tables however can be confusing. It took me a few
tries to figure it out, but once you know, it's a breeze.

When the database tree appears on the left hand side, the tree opens and
then closes. Your first reaction is to open the tree again and that's
fine if you want to modify the tables and fields, or delete records in
the fields. But if you want to delete a table, leave the tree closed and
wait for a moment or two. You will then be presented with a list of
tables in the right screen, and it's from here where you do your
deletions.

Good luck. All I can tell you is that since having this program and Cute
FTP, I've never had the need to use Telnet again.

Love it!

John
