I have it so that default blank images are set when a new item is added.
Then if the person entering the sku info does not have an image there is
still one to load. I am using this to align item entries with one less
table.
As far as naming the file goes the store should have a policy controlling
that (and if not write one now). The easiest is to use sku_100.jpg
sku_200.jpg etc. Then all the grunt doing the scanning needs is the sku.
To take this one automated step further use a image editing program that
allows you to write macros (called actions in PhotoShop 4.0 and up). Write
a macro that will take the scan (or digital camera image) and automatically
duplicate it a couple times, set the image sizes and then save each new
image. The last step you may have to do manually depending on your software
and version. If you don't have a decent software for this Corel is decent
and has its own scripting language and PhotoShop of course, but I would wait
for the release of 6.0. Using macros or scripts for this ensures that every
image is handled the same.
