Dedicated is always the best.
But I think the cost would be prohibited for such a small transactional
site.
A friend can offer a dedicated box for about $200/mo and network/unix
administration, we do setup FreeTrade on their own boxes or in shared
boxes.
A better judgement on if you need a dedicated box is visits, cpu usage,
memory usage and how many transactions.
Will these 7000 sku's be growing?
Will the site become popular, quickly?

(home), if you have budgeted amount that can include a dedicated machine
then that is even better.

I think that there has been a test done by Leon to see how much data would
kill MySQL, but I don't remember the number.
