The results are obvious: it changes the position of any middle stem quite dramatically: sometimes for better, sometimes for worse. e's with top diacritics suffering the most as they loose consistency. So yeah, years of tweaking for BOTTOM_TO_TOP show. Perhaps working with "wrong" direction intentionally can help iron out real bugs. Werner, you should check it out. It is kind of striking. Alexei
