I've fixed a seven-years old bug http://savannah.nongnu.org/bugs/?25392 that improves the rendering of long vertical stems in full auto-hinting mode (i.e., FT_LOAD_FORCE_AUTOHINT). Attached are before-after images of NotoSans-Regular.ttf; in general sans-serif fonts benefit most of this change. [Note that I have not yet ported this to ttfautohint, since it is a bigger issue due to necessary modifications to the created bytecode.] Please test your fonts and check whether there are any adverse effects.
