Hi Nikolaus! I am one of those weird "windows fonts on unix" users. Yeah minority I know, but recent update completely blew up my setup. So sorry for mailing you out of blue! I like pixel perfect look of ancient windows fonts, because they allow me to conserve screen space. Although I have big displays, I have reasonably good eyes to read such small fonts. I am also owner of valid Windows licence from XP times and I used webfonts package to get them. So i belive this is legitimate use. After update, rendering breaks horribly at least in browsers based on Gecko. So much, that text is unreadable. For now I downgraded my distribution package. Please, what can I do besides recompile, to keep old behaviour? I don't care about ClearType in the slightest, I would just like my Tahoma and Arial to be pixel perfect crispy as I am used to. I would also like to push for this to be solved at upstream, as I am certainly not the only one who is having these problems. At least some fontconfig option, I can manually define for these few fonts I depend on, would be helpful. I tried to dig out info on mailing lists, but it is all really complex. However there was whitelisting proposed for these specific fonts. Can that be implemented and used to solve the problem? From my research it seem, you are the person "in the know" about this thing. Thank you for your hard work! eto _______________________________________________ Freetype-devel mailing list [email protected] https://lists.nongnu.org/mailman/listinfo/freetype-devel
