BTW, you never mentioned what version of freetype you are using for testing.
FontVal 2.0 has a backend based on Freetype 2.6.4. The backend is used for analysing hdmx/ltsh/vdmx tables as well as hinting instructions, but the rest is independent and may tell you other things about flaws in the font. There is no plan to update the pub dev beyond that, as the latest private dev has some interface change which affects the rest of FontVal. I don't want to go backward just to build a more up-to-date backend. I have never managed to download from the qq.com urls - it is either cookie error with batch download tool or file not found with firefox/icecat. So dropbox or whatever is probably preferred. (or even pan.baidu). OTOH, https://github.com/HinTak/Font-Validator/issues/ allows you to upload test file attachments - I don't know of the size limit - as long as you have a github id.
