Aah, Ubuntu no longer have `/usr/lib64'; it's called
`/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu' instead, cf.

One more reason to not assume a default directory for library
filesĀ :-)

If you are going to use FreeType's build system, just rely on
$(libdir).
