I must admit that I don't know meson at all. Life is short, so I
probably won't have a look :-/

Personally, I really dislike CMake. Both the syntax and the
philosophy behind it. Of course, I don't object if people want to
maintain and improve CMake support, but it's definitely not me who is
going to do that.
