Hmm, I'm not sure what you mean. How do you call ftstring? Can you
send a small image which displays the problem?
The only thing I can see is that the autohinter fails miserably for
the `missing char' box at 16pt and below (using 72dpi). David, you
might have a look at it: Just say
ftview -e symb 16 symbol.ttf
and press the `f' button.
