I can build 2.3.5 in VS2005 straight out of the box with the provided VS solution. It spits out freetype235.lib into freetype-2.3.5\objs. However, I wanted a DLL, not a static library, and I had to make some changes to make that work. I can go into more detail on that if you'd like.
