Damn I feel stupid...
Turns out "sudo" carries over all my other environment variables, but it
doesn't carry over "PATH". I didn't manage to "sudo" while carrying over
"PATH", so I ran by hand:
sudo -sE
export PATH=${PLATFORM_PREFIX}/bin:$PATH
make install
