I suppose you have downloaded FreeVMS 0.4. 0.4 is in very early
development stage (and I don't have time enough to continue alone).
Random characters only show that L4 microkernel is running. I use this
functionality because 0.4 kernel uses 64-bits pointers (by default gcc
only use 4G pointers, 2G for system and 2G for user) and kernel can hang
without any message.

Maybe the 0.3 disk images should be made available until 0.4 is ready?
As of today, the non-working 0.4 just makes the project look bad.

On the first page (www.freevms.net), you have several links, in
particular FreeVMS 0.3.14, 0.3.15 and 0.4 from CVS tree.

        Oops, sorry, 0.3.14 and 0.3.15 are only source tarballs...
