Are you guys working at all on the TV guide? I started trying some
ideas today, and I managed to speed things up pretty dramatically, but
I soon realized that the way I was doing it would likely not work out,
since it relied on the guide page being fixed; and you couldn't scroll
down or right.

If you guys aren't working on it yet, I'd hope we can figure out how
this is going to work. A couple of options arose for me.

The first thing I did was make it so the selection saved the surface
before it highlighted the box; then, the next time the cursor moved,
it simply redrew the old surface (which didn't have the highlight) and
drew the next one.

The issue the I had was how to save the rows once they're rendered...

1. If you save the row's one by one, you can scroll up and down, but
if you move half and hour right, you need to redraw everything.

2. If you save 30 minute blocks, it'll be a mess to draw the selected
areas back in.

As it is, the grid is painfully slow for me, and probably needn't be.
When I stopped redrawing the entire grid, the speed of the drawing was
as fast as I could hit remote buttons; and while that solution works,
without being able to move left and right, it's fairly useless.

Thoughts?
