I assume the 'sh -x' is for including the config
options in your 'mplayer-config' file. What
configuration options are included in there? (If the
file is available somewhere, you can just point me
there).

freevo:/opt/src/CVS_mplayer# sh -x /var/media/build/mplayer-config

mplayer-config is just a file with the contents:

./configure --prefix=/var/media/build/MPlayer --enable-tv-v4l --enable-mga --enable-xmga --enable-runtime-cpudetection --enable-largefiles --disable-lirc --disable-svga --disable-arts --enable-directfb --enable-dxr3 --enable-xvid --enable-vidix --enable-faad --disable-divx4linux --disable-gif --disable-gl --datadir=./runtime/apps/mplayer --confdir=./runtime/apps/mplayer

This makes it easier to build mplayer over and over with the came configuration instead of having to remember what to include every time.

I may try building my MPlayer and put it in the Freevo directory, as opposed to a "system" MPlayer, just in case you aren't able to get the VIDIX support working :-(.

You should never ever build your own anything and put it into the apps directory. There is a spot in freevo.conf that you can point to your system mplayer.
