AFAIK, earlier versions of Freevo did play the first variant
automatically when there was only one.

Something a bit different, too: if the CD (or rather a DVD-R) contains
more than one movie (i.e. there is more than one FXD file matching the
disc), there should be several menu items pointing to the CD/DVD drive.
I don't know if this is implemented yet, it was just a thought.
