Using an XML config file would be extremely beneficial.  It would make it 
possible to logically group things, like Dischi suggests.  XML is easy to 
look at and understand so it is still text editable.

Best of all XML would make it really easy to write a frontend.  When you use 
XML, you don't have to worry about writing code to modify the file.  You 
could also have freevo automatically insert new variables into 
local_config.xml with the default values and mark them as new.
